Double the Impact
The final stretch of The Salvation Army's annual Red Kettle Campaign is getting some much-needed help thanks to an anonymous donor. Starting on Saturday, December 16 and running through Saturday, December 23, all cash donations to Red Kettles in Henry County will be doubled up to $5,000. As shoppers head out to wrap up their Christmas shopping, they will have the opportunity to double the impact of their charitable giving by choosing to drop a gift into a Red Kettle.
The Salvation Army offers a variety of programs and services to local residents of all ages, including a youth basketball program. In 2022, the charity provided more than 44,000 meals to local residents and 9,100 toys and clothing items to children for Christmas. Each donation dropped into a Red Kettle in November and December helps to continue these vital ministries - and many more - into the following year.
Helping to kick off the week-long match period will be members of the Kiwanis Club of New Castle-Henry County, who will be bell ringing at Red Kettles on Saturday, December 16.
"We are thrilled to join forces with The Salvation Army for the 15th year and be part of this exciting kettle match," said Kiwanis president Kenon Gray. "As an organization dedicated to empowering and supporting young people, it is an honor to collaborate with such a tremendous force for good like The Salvation Army. Our Kiwanis Club from New Castle-Henry County has managed to raise more than $4,000 in just the last three years. And now, we're absolutely thrilled to be part of this incredibly meaningful project once more!"
It has been a challenging year for many Henry County residents, who are increasingly looking to The Salvation Army to help them keep food on the table and a roof over their heads.
"This year has been tough for Hoosiers and it's inspiring to see the New Castle-Henry County Kiwanis Club stepping up to help their neighbors in need." said Envoy Beth Stamper of The Salvation Army Henry County Corps. "I am honored to serve our community alongside them and can’t wait to see the outpouring of love and generosity from our neighbors."
Shoppers looking for a Red Kettle this week will find bell ringers at Walmart and Kroger, but volunteer bell ringers are still needed to ensure that kettles can be out every day through December 23. Anyone interested in volunteering to ring a bell for a two-hour shift is invited to visit RegisterToRing.com and find a location, date, and time that works for their schedule.
Every donation given to The Salvation Army through the annual Red Kettle Campaign provides help and hope to those in need, and all gifts stay right here in the community where it is given.
