2018 Colts Coat Collection

Oct 3, 2018

It was a great day at Lucas Oil Stadium.  As thousands of fans arrived for the Colts v. Texans game on the 30th, they brought with them coats to help The Salvation Army ensure that every child in Indianapolis who needs a coat will have one this year through the annual Coats for Kids event.

The Coats for Kids program has now been around for over 30 years! We are excited for October 20th when thousands of children, accompanied by their parents or guardians will arrive at the Indiana State Fairgrounds for distribution day.

Thanks to generous Colts fans and drop-offs at Tuchman Cleaners locations over the past few weeks, we already have many coats ready for distribution day. Colts fans that arrived at Sunday’s game without a coat to donate were still able to help by offering cash donations totaling $1,742.93. These donations help us purchase coats in the most needed sizes to ensure that we can send as many children home with a warm coat as possible.

The Salvation Army volunteers who rang the bell and collected the coats before game time were thrilled to be able to witness first-hand the generosity of spirit that makes our community such a wonderful place to live, work and worship. It was truly a day of blessings that will make a great impact on October 20.  Thank you to everyone who opened their hearts!

Still interested in making a donation to Coats for Kids? Drop off coats at any central Indiana Tuchman Cleaners by October 15 or simply visit our secure online Coat Shop to purchase coats to fill the racks on October 20. Thank you!
