2019 Older Adult Spring Luncheon

Apr 25, 2019

Along with some of the warmer weather we’ve already had this year, another sure sign that spring has arrived is when seniors come together  to enjoy a meal and entertainment with The Salvation Army. April 24th marked the annual Older Adult Spring Luncheon at our Eagle Creek and Fountain Square Corps Community Centers in Indianapolis. It’s always a joy to serve the 300+ seniors who come from around Central Indiana for fried chicken and all the fixings to go with it.

The luncheon was titled “A Starry Night in Emerald City.” This was a fun take on the overarching theme of the Wizard of Oz. Many guests arrived dressed up as their favorite character, which added to the fun of the day.  Before lunch was served, bingo, trivia, and even a sing-a-long game were played with prizes awarded to each winner.

Serving the seniors is a ministry that is carried out with a luncheon in both the spring and during the Christmas season. Guests come by special invitation through the local Salvation Army corps in their community.  Along with the luncheon, another ministry that is carried out each year is the Older Adult Summer Camp.  We are excited to announce that the Wizard of Oz theme will continue into an “Over the Rainbow” camp.   If you or someone you know would be interested in attending, or if you would like more information, please send us a message to indweb@usc.salvationarmy.org.
