Walmart hosts Toy Drive to help Hoosier children experience Christmas

November 9, 2019

On Saturday, November 9th, The Salvation Army partnered with Walmart stores across the nation to hold a Toy Drive to bring the Holidays home to children in need.  Each year, thousands of Hoosier families reach out to us for help during the winter and Christmas season.  This year, we have over 7,000 children in need of Christmas assistance.

The Walmart Toy Drive ties in closely with our Angel Tree Program.

Angel Tree is an incredible way to give to a child (or “Angel”) in need. Generous donors adopt children (or “Angels”) and provide them with personalized gifts to help make the holidays a special time.

Angel adoptions for Central Indiana are currently open, both online and at select malls in Indianapolis.  The Salvation Army is able to help children and families in need through Donation Drives and programs such as Angel Tree.  The ability for us to help so many is made possible by the generosity of local businesses, organizations, and community members.

During the 2019 Walmart Toy Drive, the Indiana Corps collected 500 toys that will be distributed to children in time for the holidays, bringing joy, love, and hope to Hoosier children who might not otherwise receive gifts or celebrate Christmas this year. We want to give a big thank you to Walmart for being such an amazing bellringing partner each year,  and for inviting The Salvation Army to collect toys for communities across Indiana.
