Bags of Hope

Apr 9, 2019 | by Katherine Basaran

On April 5, people gathered in the conference room of The Salvation Army Indiana Division’s new headquarters for an extra fun event.  Bingo! The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary (SAWA) hosted this first annual fundraiser to raise money to help grant wish list items for The Salvation Army Ministries.

Over the years, the Women’s Auxiliary has evolved into a dedicated group that supports and acts as liaisons to programs developed by The Salvation Army. They can be counted on to volunteer every time they are asked. They also host events and fundraisers throughout the year, with bingo being the new crowd favorite.

With well over 100 attendees and some beautiful designer purses as prizes, this particular fundraiser was a huge success.  As the numbers were called by popular radio personality Terri Stacy, you could see the smiles around the room.  10 games were played with 3-cards per game, giving even the most serious bingo player ample opportunity to play.  In addition to the bingo games, there was a silent auction, door prizes, and a concession stand.

Being a part of SAWA is a true blessing to its members, not only through volunteer work, but through the friendships that form as members work together and have fun, too.  If you are interested in getting involved in SAWA or attending one of these fun events, send a message to INDWeb@usc.salvationarmy.org
