Chaplain Highlight: Joshua and Darby Bowyer
Lieutenants Joshua and Darby Bowyer are driven individuals who have dedicated their lives to meeting the needs of communities through The Salvation Army. Lieutenant Joshua, a seventh-generation Salvationist, and Lieutenant Darby, who began her involvement with the organization at the age of seven, found their paths intertwined while working at a summer camp in 2012.
During their tenure at the Hammond-Munster Corps, they witnessed remarkable growth in the corps programs, particularly after the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic. Under their leadership, the average number of regular attendees doubled. Witnessing this progress brought immense joy to the couple, and they attribute this success to the collaborative efforts of the community. The opportunity to forge connections and work closely with the people of the Hammond-Munster communities was a tremendous blessing to them.
As they prepare to bid farewell to The Salvation Army Hammond-Munster Corps and Community Center embarking on a new chapter, Lieutenant Joshua and Darby Bowyer eagerly anticipate their bringing the Fergus Falls, MN community closer to God. While saying goodbye to the friends they have come to know and cherish in Indiana, the Lieutenants place their trust in God's guidance for this new chapter in their lives and are confident that they are being led to the places where they are most needed.
