The Angel Tree program is designed to determine and fulfill the Christmas wishes and needs of children ages 0 to 12. Parents or guardians provide The Salvation Army with a list for each child that includes special wants, likes toys or games, alongside much needed items like clothing, winter gear, diapers, and shoes. Donors across Central Indiana then have the opportunity to “adopt” each of these “Angels” and fill a special Angel Tree bag with gifts chosen for that specific child. Gifts are then distributed to parents in time for Christmas. This year, The Salvation Army has opened Angel Tree up to families who had been served by United Way of Central Indiana’s United Christmas Service, which was discontinued in 2018. This expansion of the Angel Tree program is expected to more than double the number of children served by The Salvation Army this Christmas. The Salvation Army will host open Angel adoptions at Angel Trees in Castleton Square and Greenwood Park malls November 16-17and every day except Sunday from November 23 to December 8. Local businesses, churches, clubs, and other groups are invited to adopt large groups of Angels through our Corporate Adoption process.
