The 2019 Golf 4 Kids Outing at the Brickyard
Every year, children from across the state get the experience of a lifetime at The Salvation Army’s 700- acre Hidden Falls Camp in southern Indiana. For many of these kids, a week at summer camp is normally outside of their family’s budget. At Hidden Falls Camp, kids can swim, fish, tackle high ropes courses, learn archery, and go on mountain bike adventures. Thanks to the support of generous donors, The Salvation Army is able to create these amazing adventures for children, where they can try new challenges, make lifelong friends, and explore nature in a safe, Christian environment.
On May 15th, The Salvation Army held its annual Golf 4 Kids event to support Hidden Falls and help more Indiana kids get the chance to experience the great outdoors. This year, the event was even more exciting. It took place at the exclusive Brickyard Crossing Golf Course, which meant that participants were able to explore and compete on the 18-hole course while race cars practiced on the track around them. It was a unique opportunity to be involved in race month at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The weather was beautiful, and it was clear that all of the golfers were excited to be involved.
“The outing was exceptional and I have received many great comments from players and guests regarding the friendliness and hard work of the Brickyard and Salvation Army staff, and of the volunteers,” says Deena Ford, Special Events Manager for The Salvation Army. “It’s a great event, beautiful course, and the money goes toward a good cause!'”
WTHR Meteorologist Chuck Lofton emceed the Golf 4 Kids Outing and many businesses stepped up to sponsor the event, including WTHR, Turner Construction, DEEM First, Faegre Baker Daniels and many more!
The event raised over $25,000, a great indicator of the supportive and generous community that we have in Central Indiana. Thank you to all our golfers, sponsors and supporters, including Jeff Williams of the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course, for making this a great event and helping to ensure that we can always be there when our neighbors and community are in need!
We are pleased to report that we will be at the Brickyard again next year, so please Save the Date for May 13th 2020. If you would like to see pictures from this fun event, check out our Flickr album here.
