Welcome Capitan Sarah Eddy
We are thrilled to announce the arrival of Captain Sarah Eddy to our Indiana Divisional Headquarters as the new Divisional Youth Secretary. Captain Sarah brings with her a deep-rooted connection to The Salvation Army and a fervent passion for ministry. For the past two years, she has spent time helping the Grand Rapids, Michigan area as a WMNI DYCS (Divisional Youth and Candidates Secretary) for one year and the position of Grand Valley Area Command Program Officer. Her experience and unwavering commitment to ministry make her a valuable addition to our corps.
Before her time at The Salvation Army Grand Rapids, she had a life-changing opportunity to attend camp. As a program kid, she embraced this chance to go to camp, and little did she know that this decision would shape the course of her life forever. Her brother, Major Jeff Eddy, had also become involved with The Salvation Army during his college years through the local corps band. His subsequent job at Green Valley Camp opened the door for Captain Sarah to attend camp as well. It was during a music camp in 1998 that Captain Sarah made the life-altering decision to accept Jesus as her savior.
Throughout her faith journey, she has encountered steadfast officers who have played a vital role in her spiritual growth. They ensured her what it means to attend corps activities and church services, even when her own parents did not accompany her. Their unwavering support and guidance fueled her passion for ministry. Music has always held a special place in Captain Sarah's heart. Although she pursued a business degree instead of a music degree, her time as a trumpet major in college nurtured her love for music.
Today, she finds joy and fulfillment in utilizing her musical talents as an integral part of her ministry. Now, as Captain Eddy transitions to Indiana, she eagerly anticipates the unique aspects the state has to offer. With Grand Rapids' heavy snowfall in her rearview mirror, she looks forward to a winter with less snow, enjoying the milder climate that Indianapolis offers. Additionally, she is excited about the small-town festivals that the surrounding areas hold, offering a time for celebrations and time to connect with the community.
As she moves and things change, Captain Sarah finds solace and inspiration in scripture. Currently, her favorite passage is Isaiah 43:19 (NLT): "For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland." This scripture speaks to her deeply, reminding her that no matter the challenges she faces, God is constantly at work, bringing forth new beginnings and transforming even the most arid circumstances into flourishing blessings. As Captain Sarah Eddy begins her ministry with us, let us join together in welcoming her with open hearts and open arms.
