WIBC Radiothon Aims to Raise $250,000 for Salvation Army
The 23rd Annual WIBC Radiothon for The Salvation Army Bed and Bread Club kicked off at 6:00 a.m. this morning on 93.1 WIBC and runs through Saturday at 6:00 p.m. This live, 36-hour broadcast includes a wide variety of hosts, guests, entertainment acts, and moving testimonials that help tell the story of how The Salvation Army is helping those in need in central Indiana.
The fundraising goal this year is $250,000. Listeners are encouraged to call in to 1-877-717-3223 to reach the Kroger Phone Bank, located in the lobby of Emmis Communications on Monument Circle. By pledging a monthly donation, callers can become members of The Salvation Army’s Bed & Bread Club, which is dedicated to supporting shelter and food programs throughout the year. Donors can also text the word HOOSIER to 41444 to receive a link to the online donation form. The progress for the 2017 WIBC Radiothon can be tracked on the Financial Engines Scoreboard at SalvationArmyIndiana.org/toteboard or on WIBC.com.
The WIBC Radiothon is presented by FasTrack Mechanical and was broadcast live from the lobby of Emmis Communications on Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., when the live broadcast switched to the Planned Investment Performance Stage at Sullivan Hardware and Garden at 6955 N. Keystone Avenue. Overnight broadcast heads back to Emmis from 8:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. Saturday, then returns to Sullivan Hardware until it wraps up at 6:00 p.m. During Saturday afternoon’s broadcast of the IU men’s basketball game, the WIBC Radiothon broadcast will continue to be streamed on WIBC.com.
Last year, more than 128,000 nights of shelter were provided to men, women, and children in need in the Indy metro area. More than 304,000 meals were also provided to those suffering from hunger.
