Special Delivery: 29th Annual Circle City Toy Run Coming to Central Indiana

Nov 17, 2023

More than 300 bikers are expected to hit the road on Saturday, November 25, for the 29th Annual Circle City Toy Run to benefit children in need during this Christmas season. This ride caps off a month-long toy drive that benefits The Salvation Army of Central Indiana’s Angel Tree Toy Shop program.

“Kickstands up” is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. from the Fort Harrison VFW Post at 6525 Lee Road, where the police-escorted group will ride through Indianapolis to The Salvation Army Indiana Divisional Headquarters in Castleton at 6060 Castleway West Drive. Motorcyclists are expected to arrive at their destination by 1:45 p.m.

All participants of the Circle City Toy Run are asked to donate either $10 or a new, unwrapped toy to benefit the Angel Tree Toy Shop program and the 5,000 children who are signed up this Christmas. These donations will be added to those collected this fall by businesses across the metro Indianapolis area.

Major Shannon Martinez of The Salvation Army Eagle Creek Corps Community Center will be joining the motorcycle ride for a second year in a row as it heads to The Salvation Army’s headquarters.

Once the motorcade makes its way to The Salvation Army, riders will be able to enjoy some hot chocolate and coffee before helping to unload donated toys. Riders will also receive a Salvation Army bell to put on their motorcycle for good luck.

Riders will make their way back to the Fort Harrison VFW Post for The Tent Party, which will consist of a hog roast, live music, raffles and prizes. Proceeds from The Tent Party will be given back to the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Toy Shop program. All are welcome to join the proceedings.

The Circle City Toy Run was founded by Ron "Bumper" Herron, whose mother was a long-time volunteer for The Salvation Army. It was at her request that he find a way to help, and the annual event continues to this day in her honor. The ride began with just a handful of friends and has grown to one of Indiana's most popular motorcycle events of the Christmas season.

“This is an amazing event that always brings an amazing sense of energy to the season!” said Major Rachel Stouder, Area Commander for The Salvation Army of Central Indiana. “You just can't beat partners like this who work so hard to make an impact on the families we are serving. Bumper and his crew are absolutely outstanding!”
