Join The Salvation Army of Kent County from the comfort of your own couch and spend the evening being inspired. The Salvation Army’s seventh annual Red Shield Event is going virtual this year for the first time and the community is invited to attend on Wednesday, April 14 at 6:30 p.m.
During this jam-packed 45-minute celebration themed “Pivoting Through Adversity,” attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about how The Salvation Army has adapted and continued to serve those in Kent County who need it most during the pandemic, hear testimonials, and be moved by national bestselling author and speaker, John O’Leary.
Given less than a 1% chance to live after a childhood house fire, O’Leary’s emotional storytelling, unexpected humor, and authenticity will make his talk truly transformational and one folks won’t want to miss. His message about “Pivoting Through Adversity” is timely for the current environment.
Registration is open and will be accepted until the day of the event. Proceeds will directly benefit The Salvation Army of Kent County. Divisional Commander Major Glen Caddy and WOOD TV8’s Michele DeSelms will be the emcees.
The Red Shield Event is The Salvation Army of Kent County’s second largest fundraiser of the year behind the Red Kettle Campaign. It raises money to help support the Army’s year-round programs and services, including those that provide emergency food assistance, offer housing resources and energy bill assistance, assist those struggling with substance use disorder, provide programs that impact people of all ages at the Kroc Center and Fulton Heights Corps, and support disaster victims every time catastrophe strikes.
