The William Booth Society
The Salvation Army established the William Booth Society [WBS] to recognize and honor individuals, foundations and corporations who make an annual gift of $5,000 or more to support Army programs and services in Kent County. Those in the William Booth Society exemplify philanthropic leadership and outstanding commitment.
What are the criteria for WBS?
- The gift is $5,000 or more, or several gifts equal $5,000 or more in the calendar year
- The gift may be either remitted in full or a payment made on a pledge in increments of $5,000 or more in the year
- The gift is from an individual, foundation, or corporation
The calendar year is January 1 to December 31. Annual recognition reflects those who have made gifts or payments on pledges during the prior twelve-month period.
What are the levels of giving?
The William Booth Society Circle - $5,000 to $9,999
Each year when your cumulative giving reaches $5,000 or more your participation in the William Booth Society is renewed. Large, transformational gifts are duly recognized through inclusion in the following Circle of the William Booth Society.
The George Scott Railton Circle - $10,000 to $24,999
Commissioner George Scott Railton and seven Lassies “invaded” New York in 1880 to launch the first work of The Salvation Army in the United States.
The Evangeline Booth Circle - $25,000 to $49,999
Evangeline Booth, the dynamic daughter of William and Catherine, served as Commander of The Salvation Army in the United States, 1904-33 and was elected first woman General in 1934.
The Catherine Mumford Booth Circle - $50,000 to $99,999
Co-founder of The Salvation Army, a fighter for women’s rights and moral crusader, the wife of William Booth became one of the most influential women in modern religious history.
The Founder's Circle - $100,000 and above
William Booth, founder of The Salvation Army turned the world’s attention to the plight of the poor and changed the direction of Christianity.
