The Salvation Army Lansing Capital Area will be partnering with St. Vincent Catholic Charities (STVCC) and other area organizations for World Refugee Awareness Week (WRAW) 2021, and hosting Fresh Start Family Photos on Saturday, June 19.

Globally, The Salvation Army has helped refugees fleeing danger their home countries and the fear of persecution through resettlement and support for over 100 years. Lansing hosts a vibrant and diverse community of refugees, and The Salvation Army is excited to participate in WRAW for the first time this year.

"World Refugee Awareness Week reminds us how important it is to be compassionate and welcoming to refugees wherever they are and to be grateful for all of the wonderful things they bring to our community," says Judi Harris, STVCC's Director of Refugee Services.

In honor of World Refugee Awareness Week 2021, The Salvation Army will be offering refugee families free, professional photos to keep and cherish their fresh start at a new life. They will also be receiving a "Welcome Bag" of essential home and personal items, and a few items for summer fun.

Fresh Start Family Photos will take place on Saturday, June 19, 2021, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at The Salvation Army Lansing Capital Area's Citadel Building at 525 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Lansing, MI 48912.

For more information, or if you are a refugee and would like to reserve a time for photos, please reach out to The Salvation Army Lansing Capital Area via email or by calling 517.484.4424.
