As of Friday, March 13th, the Civic Luncheon has been canceled.
To be aligned with the City of Chicago, Cook County, State of Illinois' action steps to deal with the current crisis surrounding COVID-19, it is with heavy hearts we announce that The Salvation Army Metropolitan Division's leadership has canceled the Civic Luncheon.
In line with our mission and brand promise of Doing the Most Good, the health and wellbeing of our constituents, advisory members, staff, and officers and those we serve are our highest priorities. Due to the COVID-19 global health concerns and high vulnerability of those who would be present at the Civic Luncheon, as well as the communities our supporters interact with, this is the right decision.
We are deeply grateful for the support of each attendee, sponsor, volunteer, staff, committee, and advisory board members. You have contributed your time, expertise, and resources to make this luncheon the best it could be. The Salvation Army will contact donors to explore their intentions for their generous support.
Our focus for the next few months will be serving local communities and individuals affected by COVID-19. We encourage everyone to follow the guidance of public health officials and to pray for those impacted around the world.
