  • What: During this unprecedented time, it is easy to feel anxious and alone. The intention is to create greeting cards for those in our housing programs to bring a glimmer of hope and joy to their day, and to let them know they are in our thoughts and prayers.

Hygiene Kits for Individuals or Families Facing Homelessness

  • What: Many people who are facing homelessness lack basic necessities. Filling large resealable plastic bags with some basics can be helpful.

Fundraising Administrative Assistant

  • What: Help the Development Department’s Individual Giving Team with mailings, checking messages, managing excel spreadsheets, and other office tasks.
  • When: Flexible on-site schedule for about 5-10 hours per week any days Monday-Friday.
  • Who: Candidates should be knowledgeable about Microsoft Office 365, detail-oriented, have good penmanship, and have a passion for the mission of The Salvation Army.

Music Instructor

  • What: Be an instrumental part of The Salvation Army’s music program! Musicians are needed to teach instruments to students such as guitar, ukulele, bass drum, or piano.

Facilities Assistant Volunteers

  • What: Volunteers are needed to serve as facilities assistants, helping to keep the building clean and organized. Duties also include painting, cutting grass, and helping in the garden.
  • When: Volunteers can create their own schedule during office hours Monday through Friday from 9:00am – 4:00pm.

Volunteer Youth Helper  

1. What: The volunteers would be asked to help with the youth program, summer day. This includes being present to assist with youth activities-sports, field trips, coordinate activities, outdoor recreation, and group life skills sessions.  

2. When: Summer day camp is 9:30am-3pm, Monday-Thursday. Fall shifts are Monday-Friday 4-7pm.  

3. Who: The person would need to have the ability to lift 30lb’s, and submit to a background check & attend SFH class. Does person have to be able to drive? If they can drive it would be great, but not required.

1. What: The volunteers would be asked help with bagging up food, helping clients shop in the food pantry, assisting customers to their cars, signing people in, and stocking food pantry shelves.

Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) Volunteers

  • What: The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division Emergency Disaster Services team needs ongoing assistance.
