Early Childhood Development

The Salvation Army Head Start and Early Head Start programs give at-risk children the same chances every child deserves.

Head Start and Early Head Start Programs

The Salvation Army Head Start and Early Head Start programs give at-risk children the same chances every child deserves. We provide comprehensive services to low-income children and families, including healthy meals and snacks, assistance with medical and dental care, educational field trips, and support services to the family. Parent involvement is encouraged and children with disabilities are welcomed.

All families must meet the federal income guidelines (excluding homeless families) and parents must be working or in school full-time. We offer a variety of developmentally appropriate early childhood options to meet your family’s needs.

  • Early Head Start – serving children 6 weeks to 3 years old
  • Head Start – serving children 3 to 5 years old
  • Home Base – for current and potentially homeless families with children 3 to 5 years old
  • Early Head Start Home Base – serving pregnant moms and children 6 weeks to 3 years old
  • Enhanced Day Care Homes – serving children 6 weeks to 3 years old in a home day care setting
  • Day Care Partners – serving children ages 3 to 5 years old in a private day care setting
