Chicago Air and Water Show
The City of Chicago requested The Salvation Army EDS to provide canteen service for the Air & Water Show that took place August 20-21, 2016.
15 volunteers worked 144 hours to serve 265 beverages, 327 meals and 148 snacks.
Special duties train volunteers for disasters. Deploying volunteers, maneuvering the canteen into a crowded area, setting up quickly and safely, following strict food handling guidelines, and serving hundreds of people efficiently are some of the tasks that are practiced so they become second nature during an actual disaster.
