EDS Provides Supplies During Search Efforts for Missing St. Charles Man
At 4:25 AM on Saturday, September 17, the hotline rang with a message to which duty officer Kari Bruce immediately responded. The Kane County Office of Emergency Management was involved in a missing persons search. State and Federal Agencies were present along with several local groups. Kari deployed Virgil Jones in canteen CM117 to the scene and spent the day organizing additional volunteers and supplies as needed. John and Jan Patela relieved Virgil in the afternoon.
6 volunteers worked for 63 hours. 784 beverages, 351 meals, and 145 snacks were served. In addition, 15 bags of ice was used. Brian Styka drove CMET103 rapid response vehicle to the scene in the late morning bringing additional supplies for uninterrupted service.
Behind the scenes, duty officer, Kari Bruce worked with the Deputy Director of the Kane County OEM to create contingency plans for an elongated search into the night and possibly the next day. The statistics to do not reflect volunteers who were organized and on standby to meet the needs of this active crisis.
