The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services Canteen at Hines VA Hospital Welcome Home E

The Edward Hines Jr. Veterans Administration Hospital had their Annual Welcome Home Event, Saturday, August 19, 2017, for Veterans and their extended families.  Along with outdoor games, face tattoos, and activities there was a backpack give away and a Good Humor Ice Cream Truck filled with all kinds of frozen treats. Also present were more than a dozen vendors whose focus was to offer help to the veterans in any way possible.

The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services Office in Elk Grove Village, IL was honored to bring Canteen #117 to serve homemade biscuits and gravy for breakfast, along with amazing Star Bucks sweet rolls, cakes, cookies, coffee, and Powerade. The VFW Color Guard from Orland Park presented the colors after which the Illinois National Guard Band provided music and singing.
