THE SALVATION ARMY ANNOUNCES CONCLUSION OF 2022 CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGN

Feb 3, 2023

The Salvation Army of Jacksonville has announced the completion of the 2022 Christmas Campaign. The campaign goal of $150,000 was exceeded with a total of $154,440.

“With only a few days remaining before the Campaign ended on January 31st, we put out a call to the community that we were still short $7,900 (as of the 27th) of reaching our goal, and our loving community heeded our call for help,” stated Captain Chris Clarke. “Monday, a generous friend of The Salvation Army (who wishes to remain anonymous) called and asked how much we still needed to raise, which at that time was $7,865.66. They wrote a check for the full amount needed. On Tuesday, the last day of the campaign, six more checks were dropped off for an additional $4,44.00. We are blessed to live in a community that opens their hearts and wallets to help people in need.”

The Christmas Campaign is The Salvation Army’s major fundraising effort each year. Money raised during the campaign helps provide Christmas assistance and funding programs and services that assist individuals and families in Morgan County daily throughout the year.

The need for assistance to the people of the Jacksonville area community is a constant, which The Salvation Army takes very seriously.

This holiday season, the following assistance was given in the Jacksonville service area:

400 families and seniors were provided holiday food assistance.

587 children received toys, stocking stuffers, clothing, and books through the Angel Tree, Adopt-a-Family, and Toy Shop programs.

More than 4,000 toys and 3,500 gifts, such as personal care items, home goods, and gift cards, were distributed.

643 people were served holiday meals.

Last year The Salvation Army of Jacksonville provided the following:

15,000 hot meals were served to the community.

600,000 pounds of food were distributed through the Client Choice Food Pantry.

324 nights of shelter were provided.

94 families provided rent or utility assistance.

14,283 personal care items were distributed.

And so much more for a total of 48,550 units of the service supplied.

The Salvation Army is grateful to the 153 volunteers who donated 13,940 hours of volunteer service in 2022 to help make all of this possible.

The Salvation Army appreciates the many individuals, groups, organizations, and businesses that supported our effort by donating food, toys, time, and money to make the 2022 Christmas Campaign a success.
