THE SALVATION ARMY HAS DISTRIBUTED 52,000+ FOOD AND DRINK ITEMS IN THE UKRAINIAN REGION
With a quickly changing and harrowing landscape of images in Ukraine and surrounding countries, The Salvation Army has been on the scene, feeding and providing vital services in crucial times for many refugees fleeing their homes.
The Salvation Army has distributed more than 52,000 food and hydration items, including baby formula and cooked meals, in the Ukrainian region, as of April 17. Temporary housing has been provided for more than 5,100 people.
Other items distributed include hygiene products, blankets, school supplies, anti-human trafficking handouts, monetary value vouchers, and diapers, and assistance in receiving medications or medical aid.
It is a monumental effort that comprises several countries, including Moldova, Romania, Bulgaria, Georgia, and Ukraine, with 630 officers and more than 2,000 volunteers dispatched throughout the region.
In Ukraine, our Salvation Army officers and staff report ongoing bombing and violence, with pallets of emergency food coming in weekly.
The Salvation Army has long been a presence in emergencies and disasters around the world, such as the Ukrainian conflict, on the front lines to assist and help protect people affected by the crises.
