Yoro Newson: The Salvation Army was there for my family, now I'm here for The Salvation Army
Yoro Newson is one of St. Louis' most talented stylists, curators, and cultural figures. She also presents a regular fashion segment on FOX 2's Studio STL show. Last year, Yoro joined The Salvation Army to participate in the Reimagine 75: Fashion with a Cause event as one of the fashion designers of the show, and achieved third place in the competition's rankings.
Yoro returns this year as a stylist to our guest models, including The Salvation Army officers taking part. She has special personal reasons and motivations for supporting The Salvation Army.
Yoro Newson:
"My WHY for participating with Reimagine and supporting The Salvation Army is a tremendous and personal reason. Of course, I love fashion, but I love what The Salvation Army stands for in helping communities worldwide. The Salvation Army provides food and shelter to so many people; it supports those who need it. Most importantly, it brings hope to everyone, and we all need hope. The Salvation Army was there for our family when we needed it. The organization helped my brother turn his life around, and I will be forever thankful for that.
My brother and I were very close growing up – I'm the baby sister with two fellow sisters, and my brother is the only boy. Although we grew up with both of our parents, we considered my brother our protector, and so did our cousins.
Ronald, my brother, would fight for anybody who needed support. He was always there for us. When I saw his life change for the worse, it broke my heart.
For years, I thought that I would have to bury my brother because of the self-destructive habits he had started to indulge in. I was sad for many years, but no one could get through to him.

One day, after years of self-destruction, he walked into The Salvation Army's Forest Park location, and the rest is history! Ronald found love, peace, and hope; notably, he found love for himself. He has been sober for nine years now. He has been saved, and our family could not be more grateful.
Ronald DeAndre Harris is my brother, and I am so proud of him. Our family is thankful for the work of The Salvation Army, genuinely helping to turn people's lives around. The Salvation Army was there for our family, and that's why I'm there for The Salvation Army today. I am forever indebted to The Salvation Army for helping to save my brother.

Taking part in Reimagine gives me the most incredible pride. Together, we will highlight The Salvation Army's important work and the excellent support it provides for our community.
