THE SALVATION ARMY AND WESTERN ILLINOIS PORK PRODUCERS JOIN TOGETHER TO RESCUE CHRISTMAS

Sep 28, 2020

The cancelation of large gatherings has impacted the fundraising efforts of many local non-profit organizations. With the cancelation of the Adams County Fair, both The Salvation Army and Western Illinois Pork Producers found themselves missing a yearly fundraising opportunity through the Pork Producers pork sandwich booth. As the saying goes “necessity is the mother of invention” and out of the necessity to raise money for The Salvation Army’s Christmas Dinner, the BBQ for Christmas was invented.

“We are looking forward to the opportunity to partner with Western Illinois Pork Producers and Refreshment Services Pepsi on this new event,” stated Salvation Army Assistant Development Director Matt Schmidt. “Many restaurants in The District are closed on Mondays. This is a great opportunity to offer our community an alternative dining experience in the heart of Quincy. Not only will you receive a delicious meal, but your purchase will help The Salvation Army ‘Rescue Christmas’ for local families in need.”

Western Illinois Pork Producers and The Salvation Army Staff will be serving pork burgers and pork chop sandwiches in The Kroc Center courtyard located at 405 Vermont St. from 11 am-1 pm on Monday, October 5, and again on October 19. The meal will be carryout only.

Be sure to like The Quincy Salvation Army’s Facebook page, @TSAquincyIL, for menu information.
