Neighborhood Canteen Ministry Changes Day and Adds Location
After just over six months of serving, the Quincy Salvation Army Canteen Ministry will make a couple of changes to the ministry. The canteen, which serves sack dinners and drinks, personal care items, and information about additional Salvation Army services, will change days to Tuesdays rather than Wednesdays starting September 14. The Canteen’s locations and serving times will also change. Indian Hills will be served from 4-4:45pm. The Canteen will then travel to Frederick Ball’s 8th Street parking lot and serve from 5-5:30pm. From 5:30-6pm the ministry team and canteen will move to the corner of 9th and Lind.
The Canteen Ministry focuses on serving food and personal care items to those who are homeless, at-risk of becoming homeless, and community members who have food insecurities. “This ministry is a great way for us to meet and serve our neighbors. Our team prepares, delivers, and serves the meals with one goal in mind: to express the idea that someone cares about them,” stated Quincy Area Coordinator Major Trevor McClintock.
