QUINCY SALVATION ARMY HOSTS ANNUAL CAPTAIN KETTLE MASCOT CHALLENGE

Nov 26, 2024

The Quincy Salvation Army is excited to announce the return of the Captain Kettle Mascot Challenge, inviting the community to showcase their school spirit while supporting a worthy cause. Join us in spreading holiday cheer, supporting local teams, and making a difference!

This friendly competition features beloved local mascots, including the Quincy High School Blue Devil, Quincy Notre Dame Raider, John Wood Community College’s Woody the Trailblazer, Liberty High School Eagle, and Quincy University’s Victor E. Hawk. These mascots will compete for the prestigious Captain Kettle Mascot Challenge Trophy by ringing bells for The Salvation Army at designated locations.

Bell-ringing schedule:

  • Quincy High Blue Devil: Monday, December 2, 4–6 PM, HyVee Broadway
  • Quincy Notre Dame Raider: Tuesday, December 3, 4–6 PM, HyVee Broadway
  • Quincy University Victor E. Hawk: Wednesday, December 4, 5–7 PM, Niemanns on 24th Street
  • Liberty High School Eagle: Wednesday, December 4, 5–7 PM, HyVee Broadway
  • John Wood Community College Woody the Trailblazer: Thursday, December 5, 5–7 PM, HyVee Broadway

“This event is a fantastic way for the community to show their support for their favorite teams while helping The Salvation Army meet its Christmas fundraising goal,” said Jeremy Koren, Mascot Challenge Coordinator. “We’re thrilled to see the excitement and generosity of our community during this holiday season.”

The winning mascot will be announced the week of December 9 on The Salvation Army Quincy Facebook page.
