THE QUINCY SALVATION ARMY BEGINS THE HOLIDAY SEASON WITH TREE OF LIGHTS CAMPAIGN KICK-OFF
The Quincy Salvation Army has begun the Christmas season with its annual Tree of Lights Christmas Kick-Off event. The virtual kick-off was streamed Thursday, November 5. The 2020 campaign chairs were introduced along with the announcement of the 2020 campaign goal.
Each year community leaders step up to serve as honorary chairs for the Christmas campaign, further extending the outreach and effectiveness of the efforts of The Salvation Army. The Salvation Army is pleased to announce that the entire Quincy Salvation Army Advisory Board as its 2020 Christmas Campaign Chairs. The 2020 campaign goal is $400,000.
The Salvation Amy provides a variety of programs and services to assist families in the counties of Adams, Pike, and Brown in Illinois. The following are a few examples of ways The Salvation Army has given a hand up to our neighbors in need.
The Salvation Army Emergency Shelter & Family Services provided the following assistance during this year:
357 individuals received
4,083 nights of lodging at the Emergency Shelter
16,312 meals were provided to shelter residents
691 individuals participated in education classes
1,415 food boxes were provided to families through the food pantry
Also, during the 2019 Christmas Season:
700 families received Christmas food baskets
7,039 toys were distributed to 827 children for Christmas
960 individuals were provided dinner on Thanksgiving and Christmas
