THE SALVATION ARMY NAMES 2021 VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR
The Salvation Army is proud to announce the 2021 Volunteer of the Year Award recipient, Kristie Strieker. Kristie volunteers with The Salvation Army in various areas, including Women's Ministry, the Thanksgiving and Christmas Community Dinners, and the Christmas food and toy distribution.
Kristie's Volunteer of the Year Nomination:
"In our short time here in Quincy, I have realized how valuable Kristie is to the mission of The Salvation Army. Kristie is the Women's Ministries Secretary for Kroc Church. She serves the ladies with dignity and respect. She often provides the ladies transportation to church and medical appointments and helps with other errands. Kristie is also the 'dessert lady' at the community Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. She makes sure the dessert volunteers are organized and the desserts are ready to go for those in need.
In addition to all of that, Kristie gives hours and hours in service to others through the Christmas toy and food distribution; she leads a Sunbeam Character Building group on Wednesdays, always making sure the mealtime for the kids is cleaned up before she heads out and so much more. VBS, Women's Auxiliary, Summer Camps, Community Care Ministries, and Nursing Home visits; Kristie is a gem. We are so blessed by her servant's heart."
The award was presented to Kristie at The Salvation Army's volunteer recognition event on Thursday, April 21.
Volunteer opportunities are available through the many programs and services The Salvation Army offers to the community in Quincy and Hannibal. For more information about volunteering, please contact Jeremy Koren at 217-231-5633 or jeremy.koren@usc.salvationarmy.org.
