Mark your calendars for this year's Grace & June's Lemon-Aid Stand for Good!
Saturday, September 3, 2022
Grace and June Hendrian, daughters of Adam and Kellea Hendrian of Quincy, IL, are excited to announce they will once again host a Lemon-Aid Stand to benefit The Salvation Army. This year the Hendrian sisters are inviting children in the community and surrounding area to join them in Doing the Most Good for their neighbors in need by hosting a Lemon-Aid Stand of their own.
“Every year that we’ve had this Lemon-Aid Stand, parents have approached my husband Adam and me and said, ‘how did you teach your daughters these really great selfless and loving skills,’” stated Kellea. “After thinking about that question, we decided to invite the community to join us by hosting other lemonade stands throughout The Salvation Army’s service area, so other children can experience what it’s like to give back to those in need.”
This special event will be held Saturday, September 3, from 8:00-10:00 a.m. While Grace and June’s stand will be located at Hardy’s Radiator (North 12th across from the Illinois Veterans Home entrance), children across The Salvation Army Quincy Area Command’s service area (Adams, Pike, & Brown Counties in Illinois and Marion, Ralls, Lewis, Shelby, and Monroe Counties in Missouri) are encouraged to host a stand at their homes or local businesses. Each Lemon-Aid Stand can customize what drinks and treats they would like to sell.
Lemon-Aid Stand participants must register their stands. To do so participants can fill out the Stand Registration Form contact Tina Lewis directly at 217-231-5626. The registration deadline is August 19. An official Grace & June Lemon-Aid Stand Kit will be provided to each stand by The Salvation Army and will include an iconic Red Kettle, tablecloth, official Grace & June’s Lemon-Aid Stand signage, and payment information for The Salvation Army. 100% of the funds raised during this event will be given directly to The Salvation Army Quincy Area Command Office of Family Services.
Grace and June’s Lemon-Aid Stand History:
In 2019, Grace asked her mom if she could have a lemonade stand with the intent to donate all the proceeds to a local charity. Kellea instructed her to consider what organization for which she’d like to raise money. Intending to raise $100 for the Quincy Salvation Army, Grace (and her parents) embarked on pulling together all of the details of the stand. Grace, who surpassed her goal by $900, appreciated the financial support and encouragement from family members, out-of-town friends, and the Quincy community. In 2021, June joined her sister in fundraising for The Salvation Army. The girls raised $2,320, surpassing their goal of $1250 or 500 meals for families in need. In 2022 Grace and June will continue their tradition of lending a hand up to those in need by inviting the community to join them in Doing the Most Good and hosting Lemon-Aid Stands across The Salvation Army Quincy Area Commend service area.
