Mark your calendars for this year's Grace & June's Lemon-Aid Stand for Good!
Saturday, August 31, 2024
Grace and June Hendrian, daughters of Adam and Kellea Hendrian of Quincy, IL, are thrilled to announce their annual Lemon-Aid Stand for Good to benefit The Salvation Army. The girls invite children across the community to join them in making a difference by participating in the Lemon-Aid Stand for Good event on Saturday, August 31.
"We're excited to invite other families, church groups, sports teams, and anyone eager to give back to the community to join us in 'Doing The Most Good' by hosting their own Lemon-Aid Stand," said Kellea Hendrian. "Hosting a stand offers countless benefits. It teaches kids empathy and compassion, allows parents to see their children thriving and joyful while doing something meaningful, and creates lasting memories for everyone involved."
The event will take place on Saturday, August 31, with most stands operating from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Grace and June's stand will be located at Hardy's Radiator (North 12th, across from the Illinois Veterans Home entrance), but children across the Quincy Area Command service area (including Adams, Pike, and Brown Counties in Illinois and Marion, Ralls, Lewis, Shelby, and Monroe Counties in Missouri) are encouraged to set up their stands at homes or local businesses. Each stand can customize the drinks and treats they offer.
The Salvation Army will provide each registered stand with a start-up kit, including an iconic Red Kettle, tablecloth, official Grace & June's Lemon-Aid Stand signage, and payment information for The Salvation Army. All proceeds from the event will go directly to The Salvation Army's Family Services, which supports those in need by addressing homelessness and hunger through comprehensive assistance and resources.
Grace and June’s Lemon-Aid Stand History:
In 2019, Grace approached her mom with a heartfelt request: she wanted to set up a lemonade stand, with the sole purpose of donating all proceeds to a local charity. Kellea encouraged her to choose an organization, and Grace decided on raising $100 for the Quincy Salvation Army. With unwavering support from her family, Grace not only achieved her goal but exceeded it by $900. The overwhelming response from family, friends from out of town, and the Quincy community deeply touched Grace.
In 2021, June joined her sister in their philanthropic endeavors, aiming to support The Salvation Army. Together, they set a goal of $2,320, which would provide 500 meals for families in need. Their efforts were met with incredible generosity, surpassing their goal and reaffirming their commitment to helping others.
Continuing their tradition in 2022, Grace and June expanded their initiative by inviting the community to participate in Lemon-Aid Stands across the Quincy Area Command service area. With their ongoing dedication, they have raised over $11,000 to date for The Salvation Army, eagerly anticipating the future of their fundraising efforts.
During a record-breaking event on September 2, 2023, Grace and June, along with 19 other stands, achieved an extraordinary milestone, raising a total of $12,023 through their Lemon-Aid Stand for Good.
