"Reimagine 75: Fashion with a cause" Designer

WHO: I have a start-up brand, ARCADE, and want to span out to multiple platforms: clothing, accessories, and home goods. A graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, with a bachelor’s degree in fashion design and merchandising. Store manager in The Loop. Most of my jobs were in clothing, fabric, and crafting. Good vibes inspire me, the energy of knowing something is genuine, unique, and inclusive.

STYLE: I want to be inclusive to everyone, but if I had to describe my style or type, it is street wear. I gravitate to femininity because black girls can be soft! My other style choice is cottage-core, frolicking in the forest, and earthy. My passion for fashion has dwindled in recent years, mainly because of fast fashion. It’s become so prevalent, and it makes me regret partaking in fashion. I keep my passion going by creating something different and being more sustainable and ethical. I’m a visual person, so fashion is just pleasing to see!

INSPIRATIONS: Vivienne Westwood is my main inspiration. She always had a social message with what she created and was consciously aware and unapologetic. My inspiration is a bit more feminine, so I also like Simone Rocha and Minju Kim.

CHANNELING: I’m not sure who I’ll be channeling, but my inspiration will be Vivienne Westwood or the hippie era.
