Red Kettle Donations Matched Final Days of Bell Ringing
With just a few days left in its Red Kettle Campaign, The Salvation Army of Muncie is receiving a much-needed boost to its annual fundraiser. Thanks to an anonymous Delaware County donor, every dollar put in a Red Kettle on December 22 and 23 will be doubled up to $5,000. The matching gift is being given in hopes that it inspires last-minute Christmas shoppers to be give a little more and help someone not on their list have a more joyful 2024.
The Salvation Army has seen an increase in need in Delaware County, with many people seeking assistance for utilities, rent, and food for their families. Funds raised by volunteer bell ringers each fall support these vital ministries throughout the following calendar year, making the impact of this matching gift all the more timely.
"Neighbors in our community are struggling to stay afloat; many in need for the first time," said Major Curtiss Hartley of The Salvation Army of Muncie. "We're grateful to our donor who's challenging local residents to match their gift of $5,000. Donations will be matched dollar for dollar to help us reach our Red Kettle goal this year. I've been amazed by the generosity and care of the people in Muncie and Delaware County and I'm confident they'll give selflessly to help their neighbors."
Shoppers looking for a Red Kettle this week will find bell ringers at Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Big Lots, and the Muncie Mall near MCL from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Saturday. Supporters can also give easily from home by visiting the online Virtual Red Kettle for The Salvation Army of Muncie.
