Alden Network Donates 500 Pounds of Clothes to The Salvation Army

Jan 14, 2021

The Salvation Army Metropolitan Division recently received an impressive donation – 500 pounds of gently used clothes, shoes, and winter wear along with a $1,400 monetary donation. It all came from one company already serving a vulnerable population during this global pandemic.

The Alden Network provides health care and residential options for seniors, including short-term rehabilitation, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing facilities, and independent senior living communities. “We pride ourselves on providing services to seniors that meet any need they have and accommodates them at any stage of their life,” said Ajah Polk, the public relations/marketing assistant for Alden Management Services.

At the end of November, they launched a clothing drive among their employees. “We figured organizations may run low around this time due to the holiday season rush,” Ajah said. “We chose The Salvation Army because of the notable work they do throughout the year. It’s truly admirable. We just wanted to do our part and contribute to them the way they contribute to those in the community on a continuous basis.”

Giving back to the community is a corporate value for The Alden Network. “It’s important for us to not only serve the seniors we care for, but those in the local communities of our facilities,” Ajah said. “Wherever there is a need or gap we can fill in the community, it’s our pleasure to step in and fill it.” In addition to their clothing drive for The Salvation Army, they recently sponsored a Thanksgiving turkey drive benefitting families in the Pilsen neighborhood as well as first responders throughout Illinois and Wisconsin. They’re also wrapping up a food drive to donate to local pantries in the neighborhoods of their 50 facilities throughout Illinois and Wisconsin.

“This is our first time partnering with The Salvation Army, and we couldn’t be more excited about it,” Ajah said. “The past year has been tough on everyone, but especially those who are disadvantaged. Our hope is that the donations bring joy, hope, and optimism to spark new possibilities that will enhance the quality of their lives.”
