Anning-Johnson Volunteers Equip Homeless Individuals with Essentials

Jul 8, 2021

The Salvation Army loves our volunteers! A group from Anning-Johnson (AJ) Company recently spent time creating hygiene kits for clients at our Shield of Hope emergency homeless assessment and response center. Here, AJ shares their motivation for helping us Do the Most Good.

After more than a year of limited in-person activities, employees at Anning-Johnson Company were thrilled to get together for a good cause. On Thursday, May 27, the team met to assemble hygiene kits for the homeless.

The contents included sample-size essentials – shampoo and conditioner, bar soap, lotion, deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, etc. Altogether, AJ employees donated over 1,200 items – enough for more than 240 kits. In recognition of employees’ outstanding efforts, the company also made an in-kind donation to double the impact of this project.

“As an employee-owned company, we take great pride in our people-first culture; we are a family and we look out for each other. We extend this same mindset to the communities we live and work in,” said president and CEO Jim Kasella. "The Salvation Army reached out to us at the right time. By hosting the event at our offices, we were able to follow our own COVID-19 safety protocols and ensure employees had a safe, fun experience volunteering.”
