Chicago wolves & The salvation army's blanket making service project
Chicago winter nights can be cold, dark, and unforgiving. Thanks to hundreds of volunteer blanket-makers, they are a little warmer.
Prior to last Saturday’s game against the Iowa Wild on Feb 22, 2025, The Salvation Army and the Chicago Wolves teamed up to host a special acts of service event. More than 350 volunteers shared their love and warmth by making blankets for homeless families in need across Chicagoland.
More than a hundred blankets were assembled in little over an hour, each a testament to the collective spirit of kindness and generosity. These blankets were swiftly distributed to individuals living in the harsh cold, offering comfort as temperatures hovered in the 20s.
Community groups, families, businesses, Wolves’ season ticket holders, and The Salvation Army employees, all came together to Do the Most Good.
Following the event, volunteers enjoyed the Chicago Wolves hockey game across the street from the Skyline Room at the Allstate Arena. The warmth and camaraderie grew manifold as the home team registered a convincing 4-1 victory over the Iowa Wild to raucous cheers.
As the evening drew to a close, everyone reflected on how the outcome only mirrored the true victory that lay in the hearts warmed by the collective effort of the volunteers.
