Help Us Make the Season Bright for EVERYONE
Christmas is in full swing at The Salvation Army! Our main goal is making sure Christmas is bright for ALL the families we serve – and we need your help to bring happiness and joy to those most in need.
Here’s how you can help:
Ring a Bell
Today, November 8, our iconic red kettles and bell ringers hit the Chicago-area sidewalks, where they’ll raise roughly 70 percent of our annual budget to help our neighbors in need. Volunteer today at RegistertoRing.com. And visit our Facebook page to keep track of when and where our celebrity bell ringers will make an appearance.
Give a Teddy Bear or Toy Truck
Our Angel Tree program is an opportunity to spread joy and cheer to the less fortunate during the holidays by providing specific Christmas gifts to meet the wishes of a child, youth, or senior. On November 9, we joined forces with Walmart for the Walmart Holiday Kickoff Toy Drive. The toys you donated at participating Walmart stores brightened the holidays of children in need.
Attend the Chicago Wolves Red Kettle Game
On November 10, our annual Red Kettle Game with the Chicago Wolves took place at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont. When Army friends purchased game tickets at Ticketmaster using code REDKETTLE, $5 per ticket was donated to The Salvation Army.
Donate a Dinner
Join our fight against hunger by supporting The Salvation Army's Holiday Dinner Box Project. This year we expect to provide full Christmas dinners for nearly 10,000 families. Just $25 feeds a family of six!
Tune In
On December 6, our WBBM Radio Good Neighbor Radiothon takes place at Woodfield Mall from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Listen in at 780 AM as we talk with people who have been helped by The Salvation Army – or watch in our new live stream on our website, salarmychicago.org, or on our Facebook page. We are also partnering with WGN radio 720 and John Williams for his online kettle and radiothon -- and we sponsored the 93.9 WLIT Christmas music flip.
Contribute a Coat
The Chicago Bears and Jewel-Osco are once again collecting coats at area Jewel stores this winter to make sure children and families stay warm. Each year, generous donors provide more than 30,000 coats. Help us keep our neighbors warm!
Remember Us on Giving Tuesday
On December 3, the world will join together to support philanthropy and charitable acts. When you give to The Salvation Army on this day, you make sure children have a joyous holiday, families sleep in a warm bed instead of a car, and seniors eat nutritious meals. Or donate anytime before January 31 through our Online Red Kettle.
