Helping a Neighborhood Hit Hard by the Pandemic

Jun 9, 2021

COVID-19 has been hard on everyone – but not in equal measure. Some groups have felt its effects more acutely than most as the pandemic has shone a spotlight on the disparities in healthcare, educational opportunities, financial safeguards, and more for some demographics (including seniors) and neighborhoods (including those that are predominantly African American and Hispanic).

The Salvation Army Chicago Lawn Corps Community Center is situated in one of those communities that’s been hard hit. In the video below, Chicago Lawn’s Auxiliary Captain Milly Lopez-Pagan shares a firsthand account of how their neighborhood has been impacted – and how the Army has been Doing the Most Good to help meet these heightened needs.
