Kroc Center Chicago Hosts Annual Dream Fest

Jan 16, 2019

Still trying to burn off the holiday treats? Kids need a place to burn off that energy? The Salvation Army's Ray & Joan Kroc Center is proud to present Dream Fest honoring the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dream Fest will be held Monday, January 21, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The “I Have a Dream” speech was delivered by Martin Luther King Jr. on August 28, 1963 calling for an end to racism. Dr. King gave the speech to an audience of more than 250,000 civil rights supporters from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial during the March on Washington. The marchers called for jobs and freedom, and Dr. King shared his dreams of the future. The speech remains one of the most famous speeches in history. Dr. King envisioned a society in which race was not an issue in how people were treated or how they were allowed to live their lives. By combining scriptural reference with vocabulary taken from traditional American hymns, Dr. King created his own unique voice.

The Kroc Center in Chicago is made up of officers, staff, volunteers and members all working together to holistically meet the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of those less fortunate. Dream Fest is about honoring Dr. King’s vision and legacy each and every day.
