Salvation Army Prepared to Assist CPS Families During Teachers’ Strike

The Salvation Army is providing programming for families affected by the Chicago Public Schools/Chicago Teachers Union strike, starting Thursday, October 17. Programming will be different in each location, but can include time for homework, sports, arts and crafts, aquatics, Bible studies and more. 

Services are offered at the following locations - call for more information and to register:

Freedom Center - West Humboldt Park

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Meals: light breakfast, lunch, and snack

Regular after-school program available 4 - 7:30 p.m., with dinner included

Cost: Free

 

Chicago Lawn Corps

Meals: lunch

Cost: Free

Can accommodate as many as 50 children

 

Red Shield Center - Englewood

Meals: lunch and two snacks

Cost: Free

Can accommodate as many as 200 children

 

Kroc Center
1250 W. 119th St., Chicago

8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Meals: lunch and snack

Cost: $15 daily charge, $50 weekly per child
Before-school care is offered 6 - 8 a.m. no charge
After-school care will be offered 3 - 6 p.m. no charge

Can accommodate as many as 200 children
