The Exelon Corporation partnered with The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois

Mar 4, 2025

Over the past few weeks, the Exelon Corporation has partnered with The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division to raise awareness about human trafficking.

On January 27th, Exelon and The Salvation Army collaborated on a virtual seminar for Exelon staff nationwide. The event featured guest speakers Salvation Army Associate Chicago Area Commander, Major K. Kendall Mathews and Salvation Army Stop-It Program Manager, Erica Miller, who discussed the importance of awareness and advocacy.

On March 4th, Exelon volunteers and Salvation Army staff came together at Exelon's corporate office in Oakbrook Terrace to assemble backpacks filled with hygiene products and clothing for survivors of human trafficking. A total of 37 backpacks were donated to The Salvation Army Chicago Area Command.

A second backpack assembly event is scheduled for March 12th, with an additional 15 backpacks to be donated.

The Chicago team also played a key role in connecting Exelon with Catherine’s Cottage, a Salvation Army facility in Central Maryland that supports trafficking survivors. As a result, Exelon’s Baltimore corporate office donated 50 assembled backpacks to Catherine’s Cottage, furthering the mission to provide essential resources to those in need.
