The Salvation Army and Chicago Wolves team up for a blanket-making service project

Mar 10, 2024

Before the March 9th Chicago Wolves game against the Rockford IceHogs, The Salvation Army and the Chicago Wolves came together for a special event centered around acts of kindness. More than 200 volunteers joined together for the heartwarming endeavor: crafting blankets for families in need across Chicago.

The 90-minute Faith and Fellowship Service Project buzzed with energy and goodwill as laughter filled the room.

More than a hundred blankets were assembled, each a testament to the collective spirit of generosity. These blankets were swiftly distributed to individuals living in the harsh cold, offering comfort as temperatures plunged back into the 20s.

Families, community groups, businesses, Salvation Army employees, and Wolves’ season ticket holders all joined to Do the Most Good.

As the volunteer event drew to a close, volunteers carried the warmth of their experience across the street to the Allstate Arena, where they enjoyed the excitement of the Wolves game.

Despite the warmth and camaraderie, the outcome on the ice failed to mirror the joy of the event, as the IceHogs defeated the Wolves 4-1.

Even though the outcome wasn’t what everyone was hoping for, the true victory lay in the hearts touched and lives warmed by the collective effort of the volunteers.
