Vote in Elgin’s Kettle Competition and Everyone Wins!

Nov 16, 2020

COVID-19 has been a challenge for us all, especially the most vulnerable in our communities. With the holidays right around the corner, many will be looking for extra help and hope. The Salvation Army’s iconic Red Kettle campaign is our most important fundraiser to ensure we can Rescue Christmas for our neighbors in need throughout the Elgin community.

Unfortunately, kettle giving will be negatively impacted this year by the pandemic. COVID concerns are leading to fewer bell-ringing locations and less foot traffic at each. So, the Elgin Salvation Army Corps Community Center devised a creative way for you to support our neighbors in need – and you don’t even have to leave home!

We asked community members to design a kettle around this year’s theme of Rescue Christmas, and we are thrilled with the four wonderful entries in our first year of friendly competition. From November 16 through December 21, we encourage you to click on the link to your favorite kettle below and make a donation of any size.

The kettle that raises the most money by December 21 will be declared the winner. Captain Rich Forney will announce the winner “live” on Facebook at noon on December 24. Our inaugural champion will receive bragging rights and our “Golden Kettle” traveling trophy.

Please show your support for the great decorating efforts of each of our participants this year, knowing that each vote/donation helps Rescue Christmas for our neighbors in need. Interested in other ways to help? You can volunteer to ring bells at one of our Red Kettle locations, donate toys for our holiday toy drive, or participate in our Angel Tree program. Or consider sponsoring a kettle on All-Volunteer Day, Saturday, December 12.
