WGN’s John Williams Nearly Doubles Goal in Red Kettle Radiothon
The goal this year was $35,000. After experiencing success last year during his first radiothon to benefit The Salvation Army, WGN Radio personality John Williams set this year’s goal to be a bit of a stretch. On the web page hosting his fundraiser, he wrote, “We have an ambitious goal and it's only with your help that we can fill this kettle!”
Boy, did his fans come through!
This year’s radiothon was December 18. John, a longtime friend and supporter of the Army, brought in staff, former clients, supporters, and sponsors to raise money during the two-hour effort.
As of now, the total raised this year stands at more than $68,000! And some donations are still coming in. This money will go to The Salvation Army Metropolitan Division to help us meet the needs of our neighbors who are hungry, homeless, impoverished, suffering from substance use disorder, and more.
We are so grateful to our friend John Williams for hosting this wonderfully successful radiothon – and to his generous fans who are helping us Fight for Good this Christmas season and throughout the entire year.
