ComEd Customer Relief Program

Bill Support

We’re here to help you understand the details of your bill and offer solutions to help you manage your future bills.

Energy costs are on the rise. Let's look at ways to manage them.

Beginning this summer, the average customer bill in the ComEd service territory is expected to rise by about 10%. That’s because the cost of electricity on the wholesale market has gone up. ComEd purchases this electricity and passes the cost directly to you with no markup.

ComEd Customer Relief Fund

The Customer Relief Fund is a timely and critical resource for households facing financial hardship, and we are proud to partner with ComEd to help provide immediate support while working together toward long-term, sustainable solutions that foster dignity and stability for those we serve across northern Illinois.

Applications are Now Closed

Due to high demand, all applications for ComEd’s Customer Relief Fund are now closed. We continue to evaluate all applications and distribute available funds efficiently and thoughtfully so that relief reaches the customers who need it most.

If you applied for relief funds, your application is currently under review. You will be notified once a decision has been made.

If your application is approved, please note that it may take one to two billing cycles for the grant credit to appear on your account.

If you are currently at risk of disconnection or have already been disconnected, please be aware that applying for relief funds does not guarantee prevention of shutoff or immediate restoration of service. To avoid interruption, please continue making payments or to establish a payment agreement with ComEd if you are eligible.

The Customer Relief Fund was designed to serve as a bridge until the January 2026 launch of ComEd’s Low-Income Discount program, which will enable qualifying income-eligible customers to receive a percentage-based discount on their monthly electric bill determined by income level. Until that time, help is still available. For more information on assistance and resources to monitor and reduce your energy costs, please visit ComEd.com/BillSupport.

The Salvation Army and ComEd remain committed to providing meaningful relief for those struggling with higher energy costs.
