By the time they reach the 12th grade, the same kids are four years behind.
Children in poverty have greater learning challenges.
Children who live below the poverty line are 1.3 times more likely to develop mental delays or learning disabilities than those who don't live in poverty.
How we help empower youth
The Salvation Army operates youth programs in low and moderate income neighborhoods surrounding the city of Brooklyn Park. These programs provide children with a safe place to play and learn in a supervised and constructive environment. The Salvation Army will continue to make an effort in the local communities to provide these learning opportunities.
Summer Day Camp
Our Summer Day Camp is a great alternative to traditional child care options. Activities include crafts, games, music, Bible lessons and outdoor activities. Our program serves a breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack every day. Learn more about the summer camp and view the registration form.
Children & Youth Ministries
The Brooklyn Park Salvation Army offers religious and character-building programs that can include Sunday school, youth troops, music classes, athletics and sporting events, arts and crafts, camping, and more.
Backpack Distribution
