Last chance to give, as $300,000 shortfall looms
Time is running out to give to The Salvation Army this Christmas season. Now is the time to Be the Light for local families who need food, shelter and care.
All of The Salvation Army’s Red Kettles will vanish after Tuesday, Dec. 24. Please donate to the next kettle you see, or give to our $500,000 Christmas Match by Dec. 31. Whether you give at a kettle or donate online, your gift will have twice the impact and help twice the number of people.
Giving is crucial right now, as Christmas donations are lagging behind last year’s pace by about $300,000.
“Consistently high prices and a moderate spike in unemployment are creating hardships for more and more local families,” said Lt. Col. Randall Polsley, Salvation Army Northern Division commander. “For many, organizations like The Salvation Army are often what stands between security and going hungry or losing a home.”
Your gifts will help people like Mia, a young woman who escaped homelessness and got her life on track at The Salvation Army’s Booth Brown House facility in St. Paul. The facility provides emergency shelter and supportive housing for young people of different ages and backgrounds.
With the help of The Salvation Army and Booth Brown House, Mia (pictured) obtained her GED and is working full-time, with plans to attend college soon. She no longer has to live on the streets and fear for her future.
“I wouldn’t be here without The Salvation Army,” Mia said, chocking back tears. “The staff here is so supportive. They make me believe in my goals.”
Here are three easy ways to give to The Salvation Army now through Dec. 31:
- Donate online
- Call our Development Team at 651-746-3491 during business hours.
- Mail a check to The Salvation Army, 2445 Prior Ave. N., Roseville, MN 55113
“Thank you for supporting The Salvation Army,” Polsley said. “We and the people we serve are grateful for your gift of any amount. Your generosity will be a Christmas blessing for those with no place left to turn.”
