Joe Mauer named Chair of 2019 Christmas Campaign
The Twin Cities Salvation Army is proud to announce Joe Mauer as Chair of our 2019 Christmas Campaign.
Mauer is a Minnesota sports icon and a hometown hero. The retired slugger spent his entire 15-year baseball career with the Minnesota Twins, having won three batting titles, three Gold Glove honors, and one MVP Award.
Mauer is excited about his role as Christmas Chair. He has been a fan of The Salvation Army ever since he was a boy, when he used to watch local basketball games at the West 7th Salvation Army in St. Paul.
“I’ve seen a lot of families who have benefitted from The Salvation Army,” Mauer said. “When I was granted this opportunity, I had to jump at it.”
Mauer encourages everyone to support The Salvation Army during the 2019 Christmas season. You can help by volunteering, ringing bells, or donating money. Your contributions will help the Twin Cities Salvation Army to provide food, clothing, shelter, and other resources for thousands of local families.
“The Salvation Army is a year-round organization that does so many great things,” Mauer said. “I’m glad to be affiliated with them.”
Mauer is scheduled to appear at a to-be-announced Red Kettle Kickoff event in mid-November. He will also appear in a number of video messages that will be posted online throughout the holiday season.
“We are excited that Joe Mauer has joined our fight for good this Christmas season,” said Lt. Col. Lonneal Richardson (pictured with Mauer), leader of The Salvation Army Northern Division. “His support will advance our mission to help struggling families win their battle against poverty.”
