Checkout Challenge raises more than $32,000 in Northwest Indiana
The Salvation Army of Northwest Indiana (combining Lake & Porter County) is beyond grateful for the customers of Strack & Van Til and Town & Country that generously rounded up their purchase to help neighbors in need.
Strack & Van Til President & CEO, Jeff Strack, and COO Dave Wilkinson present a check to the Salvation Army for raising more than $32,000 throughout Lake & Porter County for two weeks, May 8th - May 21st.
"Well and we really appreciate all the work you guys do for us- and just this... this is going to continue blessing people. And for us, even paying their electricity or stuff like that for ourselves. So, we appreciate that-"
Capt. Bersabe replies back to Jeff Strack. The Salvation Army has heard of many uprising issues due to the inflation throughout the Northwest area. She was asked previously if the funds would go to a general fund or a specific issue and Capt. Bersabe replied [in summary],
"To a general fund but especially our social services that helps pay for people's electric and rent. We have have so many people coming to ask for help during these hard times."
In addition, funds will go to programs held at The Salvation Army Corps Community Centers in Gary, Hammond, East Chicago, and Porter County such as archery, emergency assistance, music and arts programs and food pantry.
Thank you to everyone that has rounded up their purchase even if it was a few cents, we are thankful for the community for thinking of us while they shop at Strack & Van Til.
