This year's Chip In Golf Outing Fundraiser was a great success! Thank You to Our Sponsors!
The 2018 Chip In Golf Outing raised $26,000 to support the children, adult and family programs of The Salvation Army in Lake County Indiana.
September 13th was the ideal afternoon for golf: mild temperatures, sunny skies, and no wind. The sixty golfers were welcomed at the entrance to the White Hawk Country Club in Crown Point by The Salvation Army mobile kitchen dishing out coffee and delicious donuts provided by Calumet Bakery. After Major Jose Tamayo’s words of welcome, golfers were treated to a tasty sack lunch, then went on their way to claim their golf carts.
With a shotgun start at 1:00 pm, the golfers sped off to the first hole. Golfers were eager to get to Hole #7 where there was the chance to win a brand new 2018 Chevrolet Traverse, provided by Christenson Chevrolet in Highland, Indiana. But alas, no one was able to score the hole in one.
Undiscouraged, golfers finished their game with big smiles and hunger in their bellies – just in time for a terrific buffet fit for royalty. During dinner, golfers and guests mixed and mingled, and inspected the wide selection of auction items. From a luxurious vacation in Mexico, to four passes to a corporate suite for a Chicago Bulls Game, to a Bobby Hull autographed jersey – there was something for everyone to bid on.
Immediately following dinner, Major Tamayo made a video presentation of a family whose lives were transformed by The Salvation Army. Former White Sox slugger Dan Pasqua and Jerry Jacques presented the golfing awards; including Maggie Vis of Local 881 of the UFCW and Steve Dahlkamp of Horizon Bank for the women’s and men’s Longest Drive Award. Dan Pasqua stuck around to sign autographs and have photos taken with guests. You can see photos of the event on Flickr.
