"Whatever It Takes" Civic Dinner A Big Success!
The Salvation Army’s Annual Civic Dinners are much more than a fundraising event. It is an opportunity to connect with the community to share about the work being accomplished and progress being made by the individual Salvation Army Corps. The Salvation Army Lake County’s 2018 Civic Dinner held on May 24th did not disappoint.

This year’s theme was “Whatever It Takes,” and former Chicago Bulls Power Forward Cliff Levingston engaged the crowd with stories of his championship season with the Bulls, playing alongside Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. Cliff is known for his determination to do “whatever it takes” to win, both on the basketball court and in life.
In addition to Cliff’s outstanding message, The Spaniels Forever got the house moving with their performances of classic doo-wop, gospel and Motown songs. Also, Strack & Van Til President and CEO, Jeff Strack, accepted the “Doing the Most Good Leadership Award” from The Salvation Army Lake County Coordinator, Major Jose Tamayo. Strack & Van Til is an exceptional partner in Northwest Indiana, helping many nonprofit human services in the region.
If that wasn’t enough for a wonderful evening, Civic Dinner guests also enjoyed a fabulous meal, and competing for unique and desirable merchandise, services and experiences during the silent auction. Most of all, the evening raised many thousands of dollars to support programs and services for disadvantaged adults, children, and families provided by The Salvation Army of Lake County.
